SPF, which stands for Sender Policy Framework, is an email protection system, that is employed to confirm whether an email message is sent by an official server. Employing SPF protection for a domain name will prevent the counterfeiting of email addresses made with the domain. In layman's terms: enabling this attribute for a domain name creates a special record in the Domain Name System (DNS) that contains the IP addresses of the servers that are permitted to send e-mail messages from mailboxes under the domain. The moment this record propagates worldwide, it will exist on all of the DNS servers that route the Internet traffic. Whenever an email message is sent, the initial DNS server it uses verifies if it originates from an approved server. When it does, it is forwarded to the destination address, yet when it does not originate from a server part of the SPF record for the domain, it's discarded. In this way nobody will mask an e-mail address then make it look as if you are distributing spam messages. This approach is also known as email spoofing.

SPF Protection in Cloud Hosting

SPF protection can be activated for every domain name hosted in a cloud hosting account on our cloud hosting platform with just a couple of clicks. The option is available in the Emails section of our amazing Hepsia Control Panel and all you need to activate it is to choose one of your domains from the drop-down menu and to type in the hostnames together with the IPv4 or IPv6 addresses of the e-mail servers that will be certified to send messages from your emails. As an added option you can even restrict the email messages to be sent from your domain name only when it includes our MX records, i.e. when our servers manage the e-mail addresses for it, not a third-party provider. This feature provides you with the best level of protection, but it's not applicable if only your web site is on our servers while your email addresses for the domain are managed in another place. Either way, the SPF protection service will keep your email addresses protected from being used for spam or scam purposes.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Hosting

The SPF protection attribute comes with all of the semi-dedicated hosting packages, so when you host your domain names in an account on our cloud web hosting platform, you can use this particular service easily for all your domains. The Hepsia Control Panel, which is included with the semi-dedicated accounts, has a quite intuitive interface, which means that you don't have to be tech-savvy in order to secure your e-mails. You will simply need to type the hostname and the IP of each mail server that you'd like to be authorized to send emails from your addresses and shortly after that the new record will be activated for the domain that you've picked. As an extra option, we'll also allow you to control your outgoing email messages and secure your mailboxes further by permitting messages to be sent only when the domain name involved has our MX records i.e. the emails for the domain name should be managed on our end and not by a different company. Doing so you will get even better control and there won't be a chance for someone to fake your emails for harmful intentions.
