In accordance with the policy approved by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), the contact information a domain name is registered with must be valid and up to date all the time. In addition, this information is openly accessible on WHOIS lookup web sites and while this may be okay for firms, it may not be very acceptable for individuals, since everyone can see their names and their personal email and street addresses, particularly in times when identity theft isn’t that infrequent. This is the reason why registrar companies have launched a service that hides the details of their clients without modifying them. The service is referred to as Whois Privacy Protection. In case it’s enabled, people will see the details of the domain registrar, not those of the domain owner, if they do a WHOIS lookup. The Whois Privacy Protection service is supported by all generic top-level domain name extensions, but it’s still not possible to hide your information with some country-code extensions.

Whois Privacy Protection in Cloud Hosting

If you get a cloud hosting package from us, you will be able to enable Whois Privacy Protection for any of your domains provided that their extensions support the service. You can register/transfer a domain name and enable Whois Privacy Protection during the signup process or you can enable the service for any of your domains at any moment afterwards via the Hepsia Control Panel. The process is stunningly easy – once you log in, you will need to go to the Registered Domains section where you’ll see a list of all the domains that you’ve registered with us. For each of them you will see an “Whois Privacy Protection” symbol, which will tell you whether the service is enabled or not. By clicking on it, you can either Whois Privacy Protect the domain, or you can turn off the service if it is currently activated.

Whois Privacy Protection in Semi-dedicated Hosting

In case you’ve got a semi-dedicated server account with us and you register a domain name under it, you can activate our Whois Privacy Protection service easily. This takes only a couple of clicks of the mouse in the Registered Domains section of the Hepsia hosting Control Panel, through which you manage everything related to your semi-dedicated hosting account. This is where you can see all your active domains and for each of them you will find an “Whois Privacy Protection” symbol, using which you can order, renew or disable the Whois Privacy Protection service. Of course, this will be possible only with generic and country-specific top-level domain name extensions that support this option and you’ll be able to see this beforehand, so that you won’t end up buying a service that we can’t provide.
